Matlai Photography
My name is Rose and I am a destination wedding and elopement photographer based out of Denver, Colorado. My utmost priority is to craft meaningful and authentic experiences for couples that are looking to fulfill one of a kind love stories. I help couples strategize, plan and show up for an authentic, intentional and incredibly badass wedding day.
Based in Colorado but constantly on the move, I have a lust for travel and new experiences. My work has been featured in places like Alaska, Puerto Rico, Iceland and beyond. More than anything I value strong communication, and eagerness for collaboration and helping you with all the questions and concerns that come with planning your dream wedding. I encourage all potential couples to reach out, say hi, and see if we’re a strong fit! I can’t wait to plan your wedding with you!

FAQs
How would you describe your photography style?
My photography style is a mixed of documentary and editorial. Having been on both sides of the camera, I recognize that it’s not always a walk in the park to have your photos taken. For this reason, I help my clients build comfort and trust by guiding or directing some movements, so as to evoke that true love for the camera. Having some direction as someone being photographed, I find, is extremely helpful and frankly-more fun!
I also lean into documenting moments that are entirely natural and candid. I focus on the story by including things like space, time, weather, audience, detail and above all, emotion.
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
One of the best ways I have found to ensure this comfort and relaxed approach to being photographed, is to spend time with you prior to any camera being picked up. Trust is one of the most critical elements in a photoshoot, and therefore I seek to build it before the shoot takes place. For some couples, that means we grab a drink beforehand, we meet up the day before and go for a walk (pups always welcome!) or maybe we zoom an extra time so that we can see how each other’s personality and quirks surface. Getting to know you beforehand is one of the most enjoyable ways to ensure comfort.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
My favorite part of the wedding day is the moments right after the I Do. Couples finally feel this sense of relief, excitement, anticipation, bliss and also just pure joy that you are now married to your person. The moments that ensue are some of my favorite to photograph because they are raw and powerful!
