Wedding Maps was founded in 2020 by Chris Lin and Pye Jirsa — co-founders of Lin & Jirsa Photography and the publishers of SLR Lounge. After years photographing weddings and building one of the most-read photography education platforms in the world, they kept running into the same problem: there was no wedding directory they’d actually recommend to a client.
Most directories are pay-to-rank systems that reward advertising spend, not quality. Wedding Maps was built as the alternative — a comprehensive, editorially driven guide that serves engaged couples looking for the best venues and photographers, while giving those professionals a platform that actually works on their behalf. Today it hosts over 14,000 venues and a global network of professional photographer contributors from around the world.
