Venture Ever After

Hi, I’m Nadia, the lead photographer and adventure builder behind Venture Ever After. I started Venture Ever After (formerly Nadia Joyce Photography) as a side gig in 2010, and in 2020 I quit my tech job to devote myself to entrepreneurship full-time.

What I offer isn’t just about photography. I wholeheartedly believe that connection is what gives our lives meaning, and this belief is the foundation for Venture Ever After.

Person to person connections.
Person to nature connections.
And the one that outdoes them all:
Person to person to nature connections.

It’s when you combine the three — people with a deep emotional bond connecting to nature, together — that the real magic happens. So, do I care about taking stunning photos of your adventure elopement or wedding?

Hell yes. But, more importantly, I care about creating an environment for you and your partner to have that next-level connection with one of your favorite Pacific Northwest places. If we can do that, gorgeous photos will come easily.

I’m based in Oregon and my area of specialty is the entire Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Northern California).

What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?

For the longest time and throughout most of my studies in college, I thought I would be a fine art photographer. I specifically avoided wedding photography because most of the professors and others more experienced than me at the time told me to avoid it. However, during my last year of college, my cousin asked me to photograph her wedding. In fact, she insisted (despite the fact I’d never documented a wedding before). I went into that day nervous and sure that it would be first and last wedding – and I left with an overwhelming feeling of fulfillment, excitement, and joy. Getting to document the connection between my cousin and her partner…not only witnessing, but also getting to memorialize such an important day in their lives together – I had never experienced a feeling quite like it. From that day on, I knew I wanted my focus to be connections between people, and over the last 14+ years, I’ve found nothing so fulfilling as wedding and elopement photography.

How would you describe your photography style?

I have a documentary approach with the philosophy that your experience comes before everything – including the photos. My number one goal is that your wedding day is about and for you – not for your guests, not for Instagram, and certainly not for me or my portfolio. Your day should not feel like a photo shoot. And so, I document with the intention of representing your day as it truly was – how it really *felt*. That means a lot less hardcore posing and a lot more invitations and space for you to have real and genuine moments together. I truly believe that if your experience is stellar, the beautiful imagery comes so much more naturally, and when you look at your photos after the fact, they really feel like *you*.

How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?

I spend a lot of time getting to know the folks I work with, starting with the initial consultation call. I’m truly excited to learn all about you, both as individuals and as partners. And once you book, one of the first things you’ll get from me is a questionnaire where you get to share even more about what makes you *you*, and what your vision for your day is. This really helps me create an experience for you that’s customized and catered to who you are – what you most love to do, what you’re most comfortable with (and not comfortable with), the kinds of scenery you’re dreaming of exploring, the activities you want to do together, and generally, how you want to feel and interact with each other on your wedding day. By creating a deeply personalized experience in this way, you’ll be able to relax into the day, focusing on just being present with each other and feeling comfortable to fully be yourselves.
