In Love and Adventure is made up of husband and wife, Alex & Kelly. Alex & Kelly are adventure wedding and elopement photographers based out of Grand Junction, Colorado. Their work is inspired by love, storytelling, and nature. After their own elopement in 2016 they made it their mission to help couples who want an adventure over tradition.
Our photography style is a unique blend of candid, photojournalistic, and fine art approaches. This means that we not only focus on capturing the genuine emotions and interactions between our subjects, but also place a strong emphasis on composing visually stunning images that showcase the enchanting beauty of the environment. What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
What inspired me to become a wedding photographer was my innate passion for capturing the beauty and essence of life’s most important moments. I have always been drawn to the art of photography and its ability to freeze time, allowing people to relive their cherished memories for years to come. The idea of documenting love stories and witnessing the beginning of a couple’s lifelong journey together struck a chord within me. I found that weddings, with their unique blend of emotions, traditions, and intricate details, provide an extraordinary opportunity to create a visual narrative of a couple’s love. Wedding photography also allowed me to combine my love for human connection with my creative instincts. The genuine emotions, candid moments, and intimate interactions that take place during a wedding day are incredibly special, and being able to capture these moments through my lens is a privilege and an honor. Furthermore, I was inspired by the challenge that wedding photography presents. Each wedding is unique and requires adaptability, quick thinking, and the ability to work under pressure. The fast-paced environment and the responsibility of capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments push me to continually hone my craft and develop as an artist. Finally, it’s the relationships I build with the couples that truly inspire me. As a wedding photographer, I have the opportunity to be a part of one of the most significant days in their lives, and the trust and connection that develop through this process are incredibly rewarding. Witnessing the love between two people and knowing that my work will be a part of their family’s legacy is a source of immense satisfaction and motivation. Our keen eye for detail and an innate ability to anticipate and capture the fleeting moments of joy, laughter, and intimacy set us apart from the competition. With our finger always on the camera’s shutter button, we ensure that no special moment goes uncaptured, preserving memories that will be cherished for years to come.
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
To ensure that our clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot, it’s all about getting to know the couple and understanding their unique dynamics. From the moment we meet a couple, we pay close attention to their body language, the way they touch one another, and how they interact with each other. We observe details such as how they hold hands or whether one of them naturally puts their arm around the other. Our approach is all about capturing their authentic connection and bringing that out during the photo shoot, even for the more posed pictures. We strive to never ask a couple to do something they don’t naturally do. For instance, if a couple has never given piggyback rides, we wouldn’t want them to attempt it for the first time in front of our camera. Chances are, the resulting photos would feel forced and awkward. Instead, we focus on highlighting the genuine and spontaneous moments that showcase their unique bond. By observing and adapting to each couple’s comfort level and natural interaction, we create a relaxed atmosphere that allows for genuine expressions of love and affection to shine through in our photographs. This approach not only puts our clients at ease but also results in images that truly represent their personalities and the essence of their relationship.
