Central Park

Central Park is a great wedding venue with many affordable and memorable options. One of the most straightforward ways to tie the knot in Central Park or anywhere else in New York City is by eloping! Simply, all you need are two witnesses, your government-issued ID, and a marriage license. Which, if you’ll ask, is available at any time from the city hall’s Clerk office near Times Square. Also, make sure that you’ll get a registered New York City marriage officiant. After which, you can choose the date and area that will best fit your needs to have a ceremony!

As a matter of fact, New York City Parks and Recreation Department will allow you to have your elopement ceremony in virtually any public park space. As long as the amount of people involved does not exceed 20. Yes, you read it right! If there are more than 20 people, then it is required that a Special Event Permit be obtained beforehand, so these rules can be upheld and honored appropriately for all parties involved. Now, whether you’re on a budget or just enjoy being outdoors, there will be some place where your wedding party can get married without having to worry about what others think. Just freely enjoy the moments on your big day!

On the other hand, the said department does not allow any props, chairs or decorations on Central Park grounds. This is because the area is already beautiful by itself that there would be no need for these things anyway. But, if you want to add “flare” to your ceremony, you can use portable, subtle items like air bubbles. These are almost unnoticeable from a park staff’s point of view, so that’s good to go!
