Le Chateau

Nestled atop a hillside in the scenic South Salem, New York, Le Chateau captures the essence of a bygone era with its exquisite Gilded Age mansion and captivating vistas of Hudson Valley sunsets. This distinguished destination is renowned for hosting unforgettable weddings and special events amidst its acres of lush gardens and terraced patios.

Originally commissioned by J.P. Morgan in 1907 as a gift for Reverend William S. Rainsford, Le Chateau, formerly known as Savin Rock, was meticulously designed by the esteemed architects Atterbury & Atterbury. The tudor-style mansion, crafted from brick and stone, stands as a testament to unparalleled craftsmanship and opulence. Inside, the rooms are adorned with paneling made from American chestnut, cherry, and oak—an irreplaceable wood species today. The presence of grand staircases, massive stone fireplaces, and majestic chestnut beams evokes the elegance of a bygone era, transporting guests to a time of refined grace.

While honoring its rich history, Le Chateau has tastefully blended the past with modern sensibilities. Collaborating with renowned designer KG+D Architects, the venue has added a breathtaking new ballroom that seamlessly marries soaring ceilings and glittering chandeliers, injecting a touch of contemporary allure. Carefully preserving every antique detail, the updated lobby and cocktail spaces serve as a captivating prelude to the main event. This harmonious fusion of old-world charm and modern sophistication ensures a mindfully designed venue where guests can fully immerse themselves in the romance of the past, without sacrificing modern comforts.

At Le Chateau, the majesty of a hilltop Gilded Age mansion, the mesmerizing views of the Hudson Valley, and the meticulously maintained gardens create an enchanting backdrop for cherished celebrations. Whether it’s a wedding or a special event, Le Chateau promises an unforgettable experience that seamlessly weaves together the allure of history and the magic of the present.
