My friend, Jeff Tisman, inspired me to become a wedding photographer! I started as his assistant and paid close attention to everything he did. Why a certain lens was appropriate. Why use a reflector in some situations and a light for another. Most importantly, I learned work ethic. I will work my butt off on a wedding day! There’s never a time where I’m thinking my job is done and I can go sit down somewhere. See, a wedding day is invigorating for me. I’m just as excited as my clients. I feel the things they’re feeling as they’re happening. Despite how physically taxing the day is, I’m energized throughout the whole event. I wondered why I loved it so much, but I think the answer is simple. It’s fun for us. Photographing a wedding feels like a journey and adventure with new people every single time.

We produce a variety of styles including, dramatic, moody, candid, editorial, edgy, romantic, and striking. We’re not a one-trick pony. The setting, our couple’s personality, and lighting all guide us in one direction or another.

We make sure our clients are having fun throughout their photo session portion of the day! Most of the time is silly banter back and forth. Sometimes it’s feeling out who the characters are in the family and joking with them. Many times, it’s just creating scenarios for our clients to imagine while we’re capturing them. Some people want help posing, and others just nail it. If something is off, we’re going to let our clients know so that we can assure them they’ll have photographs they love, rather than wishing they took their phone out of their front pocket or changed their posture.

We create a perfect timeline with our clients to ensure we’ve got all of the important must-have shots, covered. We know who needs to be where and when such that everyone can enjoy the day, and not go hunting for guests… it’s like herding kittens! We’re also always watching and anticipating what’s going to happen next. Will it be a tearful reaction from Mom while her daughter dances with dad, or will it be grandma tossing her walking aside on the dancefloor? We’re ready for it all!

My favorite part of the wedding day is the portrait session with our couples. It’s a calmer time to create with just the two of them and these are the photos they’ll be hanging on their walls! The rest of the day is pretty photojournalistic, and we capture what’s happening. During the portrait session, we have an opportunity to be creative, bold, and even take some risks. No one is taking risks during the wedding ceremony unless a second shooter is getting the safe shot, that’s ok! We really enjoy that time and freedom to make something unique for our clients.
