Fits & Stops Photography

Striking photography for hopeless romantics.
Yep, that’s my tagline. And I suppose those words fit because I’m hopelessly romantic myself.

I’m wedding photographer P.J. Oswald based in Sacramento, California where I capture weddings and portraiture all across NorCal. Of course, I’ll tell your wedding story with brilliant images, but as I do, I aim to bring a sense of peace and joy (and dad jokes) to your wedding day. You’ll see that bear out as you look back through your wedding album, and marvel just how visibly alive you and your guests were on your wedding day.

Images like these are the product of sound planning, a photojournalistic style, classic color edits, proficiency with natural and flash lighting, and a love for album design. That, and a warm heart.

FAQs

How would you describe your photography style?

Mine is a blend of photojournalism and editorial styles. I can’t help but take photos during the unscripted, goofy, or heartwarming moments. But by the time I’m capturing newlywed portraits, I also love helping my couples to pose in ways that are flattering, graceful, or even high-fashion. That also means that you’ll find both natural light, and creative flash lighting in my photography work.

How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?

At least one month prior to the wedding day, I work with my couples to develop a photography-specific timeline for the day, as well as a list of each combination of people they want photographed during family photos. This helps me and additional photographers know where we’ve got room to play or innovate, or where limited time means we stay laser-focused on what’s about to happen. Nothing ever goes exactly to plan, of course, but at least we’ve got a plan in place.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?

Those getting ready moments. Emotions are running high–the clock is ticking–and great friends and family are making their way through the checklists with a giddy excitement. Lots of laughter, a smidge of panic, and looks of sweet anticipation make for some fun moments to experience and capture.
