Images By Nic

The photos I take are only beautiful because the moments are, too. Let’s be honest, there are thousands of photographs who can make a good picture. What makes Images By Nic different is how you’ll feel, and how that reflects in your final wedding gallery.

With me, keeping you in the moment, fully enjoying every minute is my main goal. By helping you create that stress-free, fully-in-your-feels environment, I’m able to capture it all for you. Like the taste of your morning mimosa, the look in your parents’ eyes seeing their baby on their wedding day, the anxious excitement as you see your almost-spouse at the other end of the aisle –all of these moments are fleeting. I want to capture those memories so you can hold onto them forever.

My goal, above all else, is ensuring you have the time of your life on your wedding day. I’ll capture every moment just as you remember it and prioritize you being comfortable and having a great freaking time all day long.

That also means getting to know you on a deeper level so I can really bring our your sweet, sentimental, goofy or wild side on the big day. It means directing you to interact in front of the camera, and less of the stuff, uncomfy posing. It means a wedding photography experience tailored to you, and dedicated to making sure you have the time of your life, because that’s where the best pictures come from too!

My collections all include an engagement session, at least 8 hours of coverage on your day and credit for a print photo album and start at $3,900.

FAQs

What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?

My love for photos comes from one of the saddest and happiest days of my life. When I was young, my mother passed away. All I have left of her are the photos we took together. They spark memories, help me feel connected to her and are my link to a life she was part of. It’s made me realize just how vital real, authentic photography is. Then, about a year and a half later, my dad remarried. His wedding day to my stepmom was one of my all-time favorites. My new mom’s shaky hands on my neck during a ceremony at the wedding, dancing all night with my new big sister, and sitting outside in the rain when we got too hot at the reception — I never want to forget those memories. I’m passionate about capturing your real stories as a Minneapolis wedding photographer here in Minnesota.

How would you describe your photography style?

My approach to photography always starts with telling your real story. I started my career as a journalist and it shaped who I am as a photographer. I want to capture you and are you, not an editorialized, magazine cover with your face on it. I want your real laughs and grins and I want you to feel 100% comfortable the whole time we’re working together. I joke that my superpower is helping people feel confident on camera, but it really is where I thrive.

How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?

Before we meet, we’ll chat on the phone so I get a feel for who you and your partner are as a couple. Before your wedding, we’ll hang out and shoot your engagement photos (included in all of my collections!) so you get to know what it’s like working with me. I incorporate a LOT of movement into my sessions, with the goal to get you and your person to act normally. To respond to each other just like you would if I wasn’t there so I can capture images that look and feel like you!

And I mostly make a fool of myself so you never feel self-conscious while we work together, you’re too busy laughing at my antics to remember there’s a camera there at all!

How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?

My main philosophy as your wedding photographer is that the photos are only beautiful because the moments were, too. That means that my goal is always to have your photography experience elevate your wedding day, never ever make you feel like I’m taking you away from it. We’ll talk about how we can make your first look, family photos and wedding party pictures feel special by adding in toasts, private time, private vows and much more. This way we spend time getting the photos you want, but also enhancing your wedding day experience in the process.

We’ll also work together on your photography timeline. I include this service in all of my collections so you feel super confident before the big day that we have the time we need to photograph all the big moments, without stress or a big rush.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?

My favorite part of the wedding day is what I call sneak away portraits. This is usually a 15-20 minute window between speeches and your first dance where I steal you from the reception for a short photoshoot with your new spouse. Not only does it give us time to get some gorgeous sunset photos, but it also is such a special moment for my couples. Just the two of you, fully married and in party mode, just completely letting loose and enjoying your night. It’s always worth taking the time for (most of my couples say these are their favorite photos we take all day!)

But ask me again on the night of your wedding and I’ll undoubtedly answer, it’s eating whatever dessert you’re serving with a big cup of coffee at the reception 😉
