Samuel Marz Photographer
I’m Sam, your Colorado Wedding Photographer documenting weddings across the West and beyond.
Whether you’re having a big wedding, an elopement or somewhere in-between. My approach as your photographer is to document your day from the perspective of a guest with minimal direction, a focus on people, real emotions and nostalgia.
A little more about me:
I’m a husband, dog dad, fisher, hiker and lover of life. Currently based in Colorado and pursuing the dream of photographing weddings on digital & analog. I was raised overseas with a life full of travel, always drawn to carrying a camera and documenting all of life’s fleeting moments. My general approach to photography is intentional, candid and laid back.
You can find me listening to Jazz (Art Pepper, John Coltrane) while working on my 99 Land Cruiser. I cherish the good things in life, like porch hangs with my wife and pup. Time with family and good conversations with those that I love.

FAQs
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I spent a lot of my life as a kid moving across the globe and that always pushed me to carry a camera with me. I think valuing photography, especially with people I loved lead me to finding wedding photography with the intention of documenting once in a lifetime moments.
How would you describe your photography style?
My goal as a wedding photographer is to approach each day with open hands and to document the day as it unfolds naturally with minimal direction.
My approach to photography is intentional, candid and non intrusive.
The style of photography I offer is heavily influenced by film as I also offer film wedding photography! My goal is to offer photos that are colorful, true to life with a bit of mood.
My work has been described as documentary, editorial, moody, candid and vintage
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
I offer a combination of candid photography and minimal direction so that clients feel comfortable but also are not left unsure of what to do.
How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?
Having photographed well over 170 weddings I’m able to use that experience to help me know where I need to be to photograph every important moment on a wedding day. I typically photograph weddings with two cameras at all times, one with a longer focal length and one with a wider focal length. This allows me to get up close and also be ready for wider photographs throughout a wedding day.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
Any part of the wedding day that show cases true human emotion! I love ”getting ready” photos as I think it sets the foundation for the wedding day and provides lots of honest candid moments. I also love getting to photograph just the couple especially over golden hour at sunset as this allows for more time to create freely.
