At the beginning of my photography career, all I knew was to look for some emotion and photograph that.

Granted, “the beginning” was at 16 years old, and for reasons still unknown, a couple trusted me with their once-in-a-lifetime photos. At the time, classic wedding-y concepts that I know now (like fluffing the dress and wrangling family portraits) were nowhere on my radar. However I felt drawn to every single hug, tear, and laugh. As it turns out, those were my first couples’ favorite photos. And the next couple. And the one after that.

I’ve dedicated years to learning the ins and outs of wedding formalities, but it’s the oft-forgotten bits of emotion that make the day feel so exceedingly special, not the shot list. With a day full of nothing but emotion, it’s easy for some moments to slip past unnoticed, but not by me. I’ll be there to make sure the heart of your day makes its way back to you — so you can remember what really mattered on your wedding day.
