South Mesa Trailhead

The South Mesa Trailhead area is a popular spot to visit on the weekends. It’s also an ideal spot for engagement photos! If you are looking for an outdoor experience that will fill your days with joy and excitement, then head out on one of the many trails around South Mesa. The trailhead provides access to both beginner-friendly areas as well as more difficult ones. It depends upon how much time or energy you have before starting!

Also, there are picnic facilities in the trail. They have seven picnic table in the parking lot, although grills and stoves are prohibited. For amenities, the trail allows dogs (on leash), the area is great for winter, family friendly, has a parking lot with parking fee, and restrooms. This location has a lot of wildlife as well, so make sure to check out for that one.

Hike through the scenic, natural landscape of rolling meadows and hilly pine forests. You’ll find wildflowers among other things- including birds! This elements are perfect for a romantic backdrop with nature. You can start your adventure as soon as you cross two bridges over South Boulder Creek. In the springtime, keep an eye out for domestic irises planted by homesteaders 100 years ago!
