Hawksbill Mountain

Hike to the top of Hawksbill Mountain for panoramic views! This 1.5-mile round trip hike has an amazing payoff with a valley below and Linville River 2,000 ft. down in elevation. But it’s worth every step when you reach your destination! On one hand, on a clear day, you can even see the skyline of Charlotte. Situated just about 90 miles away! However, the strenuous hike climbs about 700 ft. in elevation. So allow plenty of time for your adventure on this scenic path.

Also, the 360-degree views from the top are some of the most majestic that you’ll find in North Carolina. There is even a great vantage point on this mountain that takes your breath away with its beauty and grandeur as well! In fact, Piedmont, Grandfather Mountain and Mt. Mitchell are located to the east, where hiking opportunities abound too. On the contrary, the color changes of nature are like a sunset in motion as they change with the seasons. October is typically when you’ll see the peak fall colors and breathtaking views from this beautiful gorge from up high.
