Adam Serra Sanfelin

Hello! I’m Adam, I’m a relaxed individual who, after a career as a commercial pilot, found my true calling in the world of professional photography. I have always enjoyed meeting new people and exploring different places, and now I have the opportunity to combine these passions in my work.

I made the decision to transition from the world of commercial flying to become a dedicated professional photographer, and it has been an incredibly rewarding journey.

Based in Japan, a country that never ceases to amaze me, I am constantly inspired by the unique beauty and rich culture that surrounds me. Although I work all over Japan, I have found my home in the enchanting city of Aoshima, Miyazaki, known as the “Honeymoon and Wedding Capital” of Japan. This picturesque coastal city provides a stunning backdrop for capturing unforgettable moments.

With a deep love for the ocean, I find great joy in photographing people next to its tranquil and powerful presence. There is something magical about capturing the connection between individuals and their surroundings, and the sea offers a timeless and awe-inspiring setting for these special moments.

As a professional photographer, my goal is to create lasting memories that truly reflect the love and happiness shared by my clients. Whether it’s a wedding, engagement, or any other significant occasion, I am committed to capturing the essence of your story in a way that is both authentic and captivating.

I invite you to embark on a journey with me as we explore the beauty of Japan together. Let’s create stunning images that showcase the love, joy, and extraordinary settings that make your special moments truly unforgettable.

FAQs

What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?

My inspiration to become a wedding photographer stems from my profound love for the art of photography and the desire to create lasting memories that can be cherished for generations. Capturing the essence and emotions of a couple’s special day through my lens allows me to preserve their love story in a tangible and meaningful way. Being able to create images that can be handed down and relived by future generations is a privilege that drives my passion for wedding photography.

How would you describe your photography style?

In my photography approach, I like to combine candid shots with either side of composed and posed photos. I believe that the most incredible images lie on both ends . While candid photos capture raw and spontaneous moments, either side of the posed photos allow me to set up a situation and look for that one moment around it.

By blending candid moments with purposeful compositions, I look to create a comprehensive visual narrative that showcases the genuine emotions and connections shared by couples and their loved ones. I understand that some of the most remarkable images can arise when I help individuals find the perfect position or setting, enabling their true beauty and personality to shine through.

While candid photos reveal the unscripted and spontaneous moments that unfold naturally, the posed photos provide an opportunity for me to craft a frame and capture the essence of the occasion. By striking a balance between these two approaches, I ensure that no meaningful moment is missed, and every memory is beautifully preserved.

My goal is to create a visual narrative that reflects their journey, capturing the essence of their love and the emotions that surround their special day, expressing their love and joy in an authentic way.

How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?

I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere by providing gentle direction rather than rigid posing. I encourage natural interactions and expressions, allowing my clients to be themselves and feel at ease in front of the camera. This approach helps to capture their true personalities and emotions.

Ultimately, I like to build a rapport and trust with the couple, creating a collaborative and enjoyable experience. By fostering a relaxed environment, I believe that the resulting photographs will authentically reflect the love, happiness, and genuine connections shared by my clients.

How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?

Prior to the wedding, I communicate with the couple, discussing their vision, timeline, and specific moments they want to be captured. This allows me to create a detailed shot list and plan accordingly.

By combining planning, clear communication, and observation, I document all the significant moments, emotions, and details that make each wedding unique and unforgettable.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?

As a wedding photographer, my favorite part of the wedding day is the ceremony itself.
The ceremony often takes place in a beautifully decorated setting, whether it’s a grand church, a 500 year old Japanese shrine , an intimate garden, or a scenic location. However ultimately, the ceremony holds a deep sense of meaning and significance, and it is an honor for me to be able to document and immortalize these precious moments for the couple. It is during this part of the wedding day that the couple’s love story truly unfolds, and I am grateful to be a part of capturing and preserving these memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
