FAQs
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
The people, the stories, the adventures and the massive canvas that wedding photography allows me to create from. It was the creative liberty that brought me into weddings. Simply because the stories are all unique and the relationships I’ve formed over the years have brought me to more empathetic, a lot more emotional and I just want to please every client with extraordinary work.
How would you describe your photography style?
My style is adaptive, it’s not linear or a specific look. I photograph with documentary artistic style. I create my sets/scenes around the canvas, lighting and surroundings and bring the subjects into play. I make a diligent effort to craft lighting in a way that is practical and makes sense for harmony. I personally retouch all weddings, and do not farm out my editing. This allows me to match the tones and style of the images be cohesive with the clients theme. This is personalize the experience for my clients and it’s not one size fits all in my style.
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
Years of experience have taught me that their experience is more important than time. I typically start each shoot with some sort of delay tactic to ease my clients in and just have casual conversation. I take the time to load my batteries, check all my gear, walk with them to plan the visual plays so they know what to expect and we just hang out, have fun, relax, no rush and work to a mutual result. My clients see every image taken on set to help build their confidence and build upon.
How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?
Planning sequences and client feedback. Prior to the wedding we create a plan of moments, instead of specific shots. Throughout the day the client is always seeing the images and the winner in the camera. This builds confidence and assures the client is getting what they want a long the way. This approach is what makes us standout due to the professional execution of getting it right in the camera first.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
When it’s just me and the couple. It’s the only time of the day where the couple have a chance to just enjoy their day simply between themselves and that is where those strong romantic, bonding and love stories are made in the sequence of images. You really feel the energy in the air and from that point on we are fueled with excitement for the rest of the day. A close second for me personally is the powerful moment between them and their parent or caretaker in a first look. This conveys a strong sense of pride with the parent and the emotional bond with the parent. As a father myself, it’s a moment I can’t wait for when my daughter gets married.
