FAQs

What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?

I first fell in love with photography in high school when I learned how to shoot film. I loved it so much that I went and got my Bachelors in Fine Art Photography. After college I hiked most of the Appalachian Trail & just knew that I had to find a way to combine both my love for the outdoors & my love for photography. So I delved into the world of photographing adventure elopements. Soon after I photographed my first larger wedding & realized I loved photographing them just as much.

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is very documentary. I do not like to stage moments or have my couples redo any of their natural actions (such as buttoning their suit or putting on their shoes.) Instead of making the day all about the photos, you can expect your photos to be all about your big day. My editing style is true to color & warm with a 35mm film vibe. I also shoot both digital & film images.

How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?

I make sure to get to know my couples better before I even meet them in person. That way, it doesn’t feel like a stranger is taking your photos. I also like to start every session out with my couples taking a few minutes to take some deep breaths, enjoy the view, and practice being comfortable together in front of me before I even take the camera out of my bag. Then I start with prompts to get my couples moving so they can loosen up & ease their nerves.

How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?

Before the wedding day I send a questionnaire that includes a shot list as well as questions asking which are the most important parts & details of the day. Then I print a couple copies & make sure to hand one to my 2nd photographer as well. I also keep a list on my phone. That way I can check off the most important moments on the list as I photograph them & nothing is forgotten.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?

My favorite part of the wedding day is the couples portraits. This is usually the first few moments that the couple has had alone together all day. Most of the time I photograph these during golden hour, so the lighting is beautiful and makes for the perfect portraits that you’ll be so excited to hang on the wall.
