About Laura Alpizar Photography
Hey there! I’m Laura Alpizar, and I’m the person behind the camera, capturing all those special moments on one of the most important days of your life. I’m a wedding photographer based in the Twin Cities area (yes, that’s Minneapolis and St. Paul for those of you not familiar with the Midwest), and I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now. What started as a passion for storytelling through pictures has turned into a fulfilling career where I get to document the joy, emotion, and raw beauty of weddings.
My Approach
I approach wedding photography with a documentary style – which, in simpler terms, means I capture the real, unposed moments that tell the story of your day. I believe in natural, authentic photography that highlights the love, laughter, and little details that make your wedding day uniquely you. Whether it’s those quiet moments when you exchange vows, or the candid, belly-laughs during your reception, I’m there to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Besides being a friendly face with a fun Latino personality (I promise, you’ll love working with me!), I take the time to really understand my couples and what makes their day special. From the moment we connect, I’m working to make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.
I’ve had the privilege of being voted as one of the top wedding photographers in Minnesota by Minnesota Bride Magazine, and I’m proud to say I’ve been able to help countless couples preserve their most treasured memories in beautiful, timeless photographs.

FAQs
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I’ve always had a deep passion for photography, but what truly sparked my love for wedding photography was the storytelling aspect. The idea that I could capture a couple’s love story, not just in posed portraits but in raw, real moments, really drew me in. Weddings are such a beautiful, emotional, and fast-paced experience, and I love that I get to preserve all of those fleeting moments for couples to treasure forever. Watching people interact, laugh, cry, and dance—there’s nothing better than turning those precious moments into memories through the lens of my camera.
How would you describe your photography style?
My style is all about natural, candid moments that capture the true essence of a couple’s relationship. I lean towards documentary-style photography, where I’m able to tell the story of the day as it unfolds, without too much interference. I like to focus on real emotions and connections, rather than stiff or overly posed shots. I also love working with natural light—it gives everything a soft, romantic feel. It’s my goal to make my clients feel at ease, and in doing so, the photos feel more authentic and personal.
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
I totally get that being in front of the camera can feel awkward! I’m all about making the experience fun and stress-free. From the very beginning, I make sure to have a relaxed conversation with my clients, getting to know them and understanding their personalities. This helps me create an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. During the photo shoot, I’m always giving direction, but it’s more like guiding them into natural poses that feel effortless. I want them to focus on each other and their love, not on me or the camera, so they feel like themselves—just capturing beautiful moments in the process!
How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?
I think it’s all about being prepared, aware, and anticipating the moments before they happen. I work closely with the couple beforehand to understand their timeline and what’s most important to them. I’m also really proactive during the day—watching for the small moments and details that often go unnoticed. Whether it’s a quiet exchange between the couple or a big family moment, I’m always keeping my eye on the action so I can capture everything that matters. I don’t just rely on the major events like the vows or first dance—I want to get all the magic, big and small!
