FAQs
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I would say my own wedding. I think I would have done a better job If I would have shot my own wedding pictures. I am an engineer but always had the creative side to things when I was a child. Always used my dad’s camera to capture pictures here and there and then get questioned on why I just waste Films (Think of the expense those days) 😉
With the disappointment of my own wedding images, came a challenge that I can do better than these people. Being an engineer I knew the technology and how to operate devices and handle them. Lighting, Physics & Maths was never an issue. The challenge was the equipment itself.
After saving some money I bought a second hand camera and offered friends and family free photoshoots and they really were good models for me until one day my cousin asked me to shoot his wedding and he would pay me $250. 🙂
I took the gig, enjoyed the food and drinks, not to mention I loved editing each picture myself in Adobe Bridge. There was no Lightroom then. When I delivered images and showed to my cousin, he was pretty confident that no-one else could have done the job I did for his wedding.
I think that was the spark to learn more, serve more and give that happiness and experience back to my clients. Since, then I have tried other photography genre as well (Family, Maternity, Newborn and more), I think my heart still lies with Wedding Photography.
How would you describe your photography style?
Creative – Stylish – Artistic. From Moody to Airy, Editorial to Documentary – I have captured all kinds of weddings and engagement in the last decade. With tens of thousands of images in my portfolio, I have noticed my style to be unique, colorful and whenever needed dramatic.
Which I classify as Creative – Stylish & Artistic.
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
I have been told many times that my clients enjoy spending the time with me during shoot. I talk, joke, understand my couple’s interest and keep them engaged a lot which makes my clients comfortable with me.
Experience is the key – For me, doesn’t matter how beautiful my pictures are, if I am not able to deliver the experience my clients are expecting, there’s no point.
My clients take me as their friend taking their pictures rather vendors and that relationship I start building from day-1.
How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?
Preparation, Preparation, Preparation. It’s overlooked but more the preparation better the outcomes. In my mind and the journey towards planning for the wedding, preparation is the key. With the planning, communication comes as key area. I talk to my clients not only verbally but also sending them details of what shots they like, their mood boards, their likes and dislikes, colors vs black and white, pictures of their families and more.
This helps us create a dedicated timeline, family tree, important moments and other important details on the wedding day to be captured without a fail.
Does that mean no important moments are missed. It would be a lie if I say Yes. However, the chances are very low.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
Reception – I love receptions because of the spark, energy, love, first dances and many more life touching moments it brings. Ofcourse, not to mention the fun with friends & family post couple drinks.
Every wedding I shoot, receptions are unique. They are challenging to shoot sometime and very fast to capture moments. However, with right planning, team and love of our clients, it becomes more interesting and favorite part of the day.
