Storyteller

Hi, I’m Ben Adams — the heart, soul, and shutter behind Storyteller Adams.

After spending over a decade photographing high-end weddings in Columbus, Ohio, my family and I moved to the coast, and I’m now proud to call Wilmington, North Carolina home. As a Wilmington wedding photographer, I bring a cinematic, editorial approach to every celebration, with a strong focus on authentic storytelling. My mission is simple: to create photographs that actually feel like you — the real, emotional, meaningful kind of images that transport you right back to your wedding day.

With over 300 weddings under my belt, I’ve developed a process that’s as intentional as it is personal. Every couple I work with gets my full attention. I take the time to understand your values, your vision, and what really matters to you. From the first conversation to your final album, I’m with you every step of the way — guiding you, supporting you, and making sure you feel confident in front of the camera (even if you normally hate being in photos!).

Every wedding collection includes a reveal celebration and a handcrafted wedding album — because your memories deserve more than just a hard drive. As a Wilmington wedding photographer, I believe your legacy should live on your coffee table and your walls, not just your screen.

I work with just 10 couples a year, so if we work together, you’re not just another date on the calendar. You’re a story I’m invested in — one I want to tell with depth, beauty, and honesty. Whether you’re planning a beach wedding in Wrightsville or a downtown celebration in Wilmington, I’d be honored to help you preserve every moment.

If you’re looking through lists of Wilmington wedding photographers and hoping to find someone who gets it — someone who listens, cares, and creates images that feel like art and memory wrapped into one — you’re in the right place.

Let’s create something timeless together.

FAQs

What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?

I didn’t set out to be a wedding photographer. I just loved stories. What started as a passion for visual storytelling slowly turned into a career that allows me to witness and preserve some of the most emotional, powerful, and joy-filled days in people’s lives. After photographing my first few weddings, I was hooked. The energy, the emotion, the realness — it was everything I loved about photography and people all wrapped into one.

Weddings are more than just beautiful details and timelines. They’re about connection, legacy, and the people who shape us. That’s what drew me in and what keeps me coming back year after year. There’s something incredibly meaningful about being trusted to document those moments and then turning them into artwork that couples will treasure for generations.

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is emotional, cinematic, and story-driven. I focus on capturing real moments that reflect the connection and energy between my couples. I want every photo to feel something, not just look beautiful, but take you right back to how that moment felt.

I guide my clients in a way that makes them feel completely comfortable and confident in front of the camera, even if they usually don’t love being photographed. I don’t believe in stiff poses or fake smiles. Instead, I create space for natural interaction, movement, and connection. The result is a gallery full of intentional, artistic images that look and feel like you. Honest, elevated, and timeless.

How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?

I make sure my clients feel comfortable by giving clear direction in a really natural and organic way. No awkward poses or forced smiles. Just simple prompts that help you interact and be yourself. I’ve photographed over 300 weddings, so I know how to read the moment and guide without interrupting it.

More than anything, we’re going to have a damn good time. I keep things light, fun, and easy. We’ll laugh, maybe dance a little, and you’ll forget you’re even being photographed. That’s when the magic happens. When you’re relaxed, present, and just enjoying the moment together.

How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?

With over 300 weddings photographed, I’ve learned how to anticipate moments before they happen. I come into every wedding fully prepared, with a clear plan and timeline, but I also stay flexible so I can adapt to whatever the day brings. Experience helps, but what really matters is that I care deeply about what’s important to you.

Before your wedding day, I take time to get to know you, your values, and what really matters most. I want to understand what moments and people are most meaningful so I can make sure nothing gets missed. My job isn’t to chase some artistic vision for myself. It’s to tell your story in a way that feels true to who you are and what this day means to you.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?

My favorite part of the wedding day is the emotional stuff. The moments that catch you off guard. A quiet hug with your mom. The way your partner looks at you during the vows. The tears, the nerves, the deep breaths. That’s the good stuff. It’s real and raw and it reminds me every time why I do this.

But I’d be lying if I didn’t say I also love the party. Once the dance floor opens, you can bet I’m out there with a camera in one hand and questionable dance moves in the other. I think the best wedding galleries have both. The deep emotional moments and the wild, joy-filled celebration. I’m here for all of it.
