Old Man of Storr

The fascinating story of the longest landslip in the UK is told in this quirky-looking feature, the Old Man of Storr. It’s located in the far North and it looks like an old rock with foliage stuck on top. But don’t let its appearance fool you! There are many interesting facts behind these unusual rocks! In fact, the Sanctuary at The Storr is a peaceful and scenic spot to take in the view. From here, you can see both mainland Scotland as well as the Isle of Rassay. This island stands out from all others with its natural beauty!

The drive from Portree is short, but you’ll be rewarded with an incredible view of the island. There are paid car parks at both ends as well so that your journey doesn’t have to suffer any frustration or delay on top of what it’s already portraying! The hike up to the best viewpoint will take you 45 minutes – 1 hour and follows a gravel track, which is easy enough for even those who aren’t used to walking on such surfaces.

Keep in mind that the climb is tough, but you’ll reach a spectacular view at the top! And it is even frequently voted as one of the best views in the UK.
