Craggy Gardens

The steep, jagged summits that give Craggy Gardens its name are home to some of the most spectacular floral displays. Situated just along the 469-mile stretch of Blue Ridge Parkway. For generations, visitors have headed for the Craggies in June. The Catawba rhodondendrons are typically at their most stunning during this time of year. Especially when they blanket an area and filled it with color!

On one hand, as you hike up to the Picnic area, there’s a small gazebo nestled in the forest and overlooking the valley below. It would be nice for some picnic lovers too! Also, visitors to the Craggy Gardens Trail will be met with a variety of wildflowers, as well as blueberries. The latter two offer an excellent late summer treat when they’re in season from spring through fall time!
