Fort Fisher State Recreation Area

Nature’s beauty is on full display at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area. Visitors will find six miles of sandy beaches and trails through salt marshes that are brimming with wildlife. The protected shoreline has been limited to a visitor center, which attracts birders and photographers as well. Loggerhead sea turtles lay their eggs along the shores, while rare animals, like piping plovers, nest in these areas too! Also, the park is popular for surf fishing, as well as facilities that can be rented for special events like weddings, corporate gatherings, and more.  But, as an historic site, permit requirements must be met first for the event’s approval. This is to ensure the venue’s current archival state.
