FAQs
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I had the totally cliche start to loving photography, my Step Dad gave me a film camera when I was 13 and it never left my hands.
Fast forward to 2009 after graduating with my BFA in Photography (I wanted to be a food photographer)- my cousin pulls me aside and goes, ‘Hey, wanna shoot my wedding?’ He had a hard time finding a photographer near him that was willing and able to capture his ‘alternative style skater’ wedding. I agreed with a little hesitation but with a whole lotta love.
There I was, snapping away at these two lovebirds and their merry band of weirdos, and BAM! It hit me, this is it, this is what I love doing! This beautiful chaos of emotions, the belly laughs, the happy tears, the awkward dance moves – I was hooked faster than you can say ‘I do.’
Since that fateful day, I’ve been on a mission to capture every quirky, heartfelt, and downright awesome moment of couples starting their happily ever after.
How would you describe your photography style?
I am a documentary photographer, blending into the background to capture all those candid, ‘oh-my-gosh-that-actually-happened’ moments. But don’t worry, I’ will also step in with a little gentle guidance when needed.
My mission? To make sure your wedding day feels like, well, your wedding day – not a Hollywood production. No awkward posing marathons here, folks! Instead, you’ll get a treasure trove of memories, including some surprises that’ll make you go, ‘Wait, that happened?!’
When it comes to editing, I sprinkle in a dash of film-inspired magic while keeping things true to life. Your photos will look just like your memories – only better, because let’s face it, my camera doesn’t get misty-eyed during the vows.
In short: Real moments, real colors, real you – just with an extra pinch of awesome sauce.”
How do you ensure that your clients feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot?
You, your partner, and me – the dream team! We’re not just taking photos; we’re crafting memories with a side of genuine laughter.
On any shoot I’m bringing enough positive vibes to power a small city. I will talk you through the process and tell you some of my hilarious (and occasionally mortifying) stories. We will take quiet moments if you need them, or we can keep the energy up if that’s more your vibe.
Your engagement shoot/wedding day should be no rush, no fuss – just you being your fabulous selves while I capture the magic.
Here’s the deal: You’ve got full veto power. If something doesn’t feel right, just say the word. I’m not here to make you do the Macarena if you’re more of a Waltz kind of couple. (Unless you want to, in which case, let’s boogie!)
So, let’s trust the process, embrace the quirks, and create some epic memories. By the end of it, you’ll be so comfortable, you might forget I’m even there.
How do you ensure that you capture all of the important moments on the wedding day?
I am always moving around on a wedding day with my camera at the ready. I listen for moments leading up to laughter and look for the connections between people. If you want even more coverage I often work with a second photographer to make sure there’s even more coverage of your guests!
What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
This is such a hard question because I really love them all! I love the fun and chill moments from getting ready. it really sets the stage for your story and often the time when you really get to spend quality time with your people. I love ceremonies and regularly tear up during vows, I love to hear all of the AMAZING toasts your favorite people will share about you both. I also really love a good dance party. Basically I love capturing connections and happiness in the day, it really brightens my soul.
